ABOUT ME
My Story
Psychotherapist (registered, RTC # 2613) || Pilot || LEGO collector
My passion for psychology grew while I was in university. The field of psychology is incredibly broad, involving sub-disciplines such as cognitive sciences, bio-psychology, and some fun ones like sensation and perception. The one I started demonstrating incredible amounts of interest in was, and still is, clinical psychology. The idea of working with individuals to help them on a pathway. Since then, I made it a goal to be involved in the clinical field.
As I finished my studies at UBC, I looked for ways to achieve this goal. I chose to attend Rhodes Wellness College's counselling program because of the way courses are structured: they are incredibly hands-on, meaning we got a huge amount of practice.
For a clinician such as myself, having this amount of practice within school is extremely important. When I arrived for my very first day of being a psychotherapist and seeing my first paying client, I was not nervous at all. In fact, I felt just like I was at school: relaxed and cheerful, thanks to how well the program at Rhodes had prepped me.
Yes, I speak 3 languages :)
Yes, I have been, and can happily provide therapy to someone using one of (or all!) 3 languages :)

----------------------------------------- My Doctoral Research ---------------------------------
My research involves how the superego is overridden by strong personal beliefs. Sigmund Freud pioneered the concept of the id, ego, and superego; Freud theorized that all three components operate in unison (consciously and subconsciously) to keep our thought-action-behaviour regulated. In my research, and within my dissertation, I tap into my clinical background, involve experimental participants, and show why and how personal beliefs is a key tool to use to both override one's own superego, and also how it's used to manipulate the thought-action-behaviour of other individuals - whether for benefit or harm.
After receiving my PhD, I am currently doing my Post-Doc at TCOM - an accredited institution where my research is recognized at the UK Government / immigrations level.
